car's computer bricked??

Took my car in service on Tuesday for a hard jerk felt when downshifting (also felt during upshift but not as strong). Since I was there I figure I'll ask then to code the ASS to remember last setting. Now I might have to spend the weekend without the car, they claim it is still in programming. Hope it's not bricked!!!!

The programming should only take a few hours. Had mine done this week and I haven't had any issues

That's I thought. Just got a call saying its done though. He wants me to pay $200 and I sure ain't paying for this.

For the ASS programming? Don't... it's a one time free programming to turn it off from BMW.

brick is a term used to decribe an electronic device that roughly resembles the shape of a brick or a cinder block that has failed and is no longer useable. for example you can brick an xbox 360. you cannot "brick" your BMW.

Try making some random changes in a couple of ECMs while coding your F30 -- I'll bet you can brick it very easily.

Exactly. You said you cannot brick an F30. It's most probably certain that you can when you code it.

Then, you've have 3500 lbs of useless steel brick.

Brick or what you wanna call it. You got what I was saying. Anyway, got my car back and didn't have to pay. i spoke to the service manager and he said it was a misunderstanding ( don't know if I believe that). I had a great weapon on hands "Bimmerfest"
