Each day I grow more upset with my steering wheel

While I was awaiting some oil to be added to my F30 at the local dealership, I saw a couple of 328i and 335i coupes. Tell me why they have such a fantastic thick steering wheel with smooth Nappa leather?

This is unacceptable. I was thinking about purchasing my car after the lease, but this small detail is bothering me.

Someone tell me WHY?!!!

You should have got the M package. The steering wheel of my car makes it feel very substantial.

I Have to agree the steering wheel is thinner that it needs to be. The M-sport package would take care of this issue. For me it doesn't really matter but I can understand that some people just like a thicker steering wheel.

I would not buy the car at lease end because it rarely makes good financial sense to do so. However, if the wheel really bothers you why not just pay for an M sport wheel and have it installed at the dealer. Will cost you a few hundred dollars, but will get you what you want.

Because those cars likely had the M-sport package and yours does not.

I swear every day I read someone starting a thread about a complaint, not realizing (or admitting to themselves) that the point would be moot if they would have invested the $500-$1500 for an option to solve their problem, or make their car more enjoyable.

Get all the options, folks! Better to have it than use it sparingly, than to pine away for years and grimace every time you step into the car.

Worked on a $160,000 Ferrari a couple weeks ago. It had a skinny steering wheel, and no carpets! The OP could pretend his car is a Ferrari wannabee.

Not likely. I have a 2009 335i, sport pkg, but not M-sport. I was getting service the other day and killing time at the dealer, sitting in a bunch of cars in the showroom. I sat in a new 328i w/ a sport pkg and the first thing I noticed (other than the nicer interior) was the steering wheel felt thin compared to mine.

For the E90, I'm not sure if M-sport has a thicker wheel that plain sport pkg, or if it's just a different style.

I know most people love the M-sport wheel on the new F30. I'm not a fan however. So if/when the day comes for me to get an F30, I'll be getting the std sport pkg. And I'll be missing the fatter wheel from my E90.

On a few of the cars I have owned I installed a lace on leather steering wheel cover. A quality cover that is carefully installed can look and feel very good.

If it really bothers you, buy the M steering wheel. Boom.

Agreed. I did, too. It's takes some time and patience, but this would be a way to add some girth to your wheel.
