1987bmw325gotwentnotrunning

Hello Friends, I have a little issue with my 1987 bmw325. I went through a huge puddle and the car stopped running once i turned it off. This was a puddle in the middle of the road. Totally unavoidable. Anyway, my car wont start. I am not a mechanic, i really need car to drive me to work. I did get it to run for a few moments, then it died and was not willing to start again. I have not done much to it aside from check for water in the spark plug wires. I did however take off the distributor cap, sprayed a little Wd40 0n it and put it back on the battery is good, it turns over fine just wont start. I would greatly appreciate any help in trying to solve the problem. Thanks. Richard

how deep was the puddle?
Check the resistance of your crank position sensor

its gunna come down to something electrical. if the engine it turning over, then youve dodge a big bullet. i would start with for one, not using wd40 on electrical, and use electrical contact cleaner. pull the main wiring harness apart and check for corrosion and clean connections and reinstall. could have also takin out the coil
