|
Make service engine soon light go away?
I currently drive a 2008 328I and my yellow service engine soon light is on due to a recently added cold air intake. Is there any way to reset it or make it go away without going to the dealer or mechanic?

What did you do with your Hot film Mass air flow meter? If the new intake system doesn't have the ability to accept that sensor you probably
shouldn't use that intake system. You could do some drilling to make it work. By the way since you're running an E90 328i you're better off just getting a reuseable drop in filter. Unless you're running your "cold air" intake from a wheel well or outside the engine bay, or unless you're running an Arma supercharger, it's best to leave the factory intake box as it draws air from outside already. You knew this already though. Good Luck.

I appreciate your response I am not thoroughly educated in cars which is kind of why I'm on here. I did keep the sensor in there because the cold air intake had a spot for it. Ill attach a picture below. Is there anyway to reset the service engine soon light or will it constantly think that somethings not right and come back on? Thanks again I appreciate it.

Is that an oiled filter by any chance .
The kind that can fowl the MAF Sensor do to too much oil on the MAF Sensor.

There is a tool to reset it, but again, you really should check to see what the code is, and fix the issue.
