Ok, here's what I'm ordering

Here's what I'm getting:
  • 335i
  • Sport Line
  • Black Sapphire
  • Black with Red Highlight Dakota Leather
  • Anthracite Wood Trim
  • Chrome Trim
  • Premium Package
  • Technology Package (Nav and all the other goodies)
  • Heated Front Seats
  • HK Sound System
  • Rear-View Camera / PDC

Since the 3 Series has moved up-scale over the years, there now seems to be a lot of options I can live without.

Don't really need the cold weather package. Heated front seats will suffice.

Driver assistance package is not necessary, but fortunately I can get the rear-view camera & PDC as a stand-alone option.

Also not necessary to me is Driver Assistance Plus, DHP, window shades, active cruise control, paddle shifters, and auto High Beams.

Although I must confess, I am still not 100% certain about DHP and Paddle shifters. I might change my mind and get them anyway.

Any feedback on DHP???

I expect to order in Feb or March. That's not that far away.

Similar to what I have. Kid's love the heated rear seats. Are you getting the sport auto or the 6MT? If you want an AT, make sure it has the sport auto. I wish I had the 6MT. Sport Auto is a great AT though, very responsive, DCT-like.

I assume since you didn't specify X-Drive, this is the RWD version? If so, you get the sport suspension. Maybe that'll be enough. I would probably add DHP if I were to build one now, I prefer a little stiffer of a ride. 335 is very comfortable. If it's X-Drive, then definitely get the DHP.

most of the DA stuff i don't use, and wouldn't get.

A sports line without Sports Auto would be a sin. The paddle shifters mean Sports Auto so I strongly recommend it. Changes the shift patterns dramatically.

I have DHP and love it but I also added H&R sport springs which changed the entire driving experience. Tightening it up reducing body roll etc. The two together is like magic, but then again I have tried it without. But I like the idea of a softer ride when I want it and the ability to lock it in tight when I want as well.

I like your configuration except for its omission of the lighting package. My not getting it was a bonehead move. It's both brightness and appearance.

As to sport auto, it's enough of a performance car that increases in that performance for not a lot of money ought to be high on the list. The sport auto does add an element of fun to the AT-s.

Yeah, I am thinking the paddle shifters might be a must.

If my kids were younger, I'd definitely get the heated rear seats. But they both drive now, and one is going to college -- so I don't see a need for the heated rear seats anymore. I am getting Steptronic. I'm also getting RWD. I can definitely do without the variable steering, and since Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control come standard, I am not sure what DHP really offers. Plus, the sport line does come with sport suspension so I am not sure about DHP.

Same question, what exactly is Adaptive M Suspension?

I think it is smart to get the DHP with VSS + Adaptive M. Basically, the drive control setting (Comfort/Sport/Sport+) will allow you to tailor the suspension firmer/softer. This is not just a personal preference thing, but really changes the entire nature of the car. You have a highway cruiser to a very sporty car, all at the push of a button.

And Sport Auto is a must, too! much faster shifting, even in Auto mode.

True, forgot. Then with the sport auto, his config is exactly what I'd order on the 335.

Ok, for some reason, I thought that was standard. I thought you could switch the mode from eco, comfort to sport.

Is that different?????

You can always switch from Eco/Sport/etc, but in the non-DHP cars, that only effects throttle and steering response. With M-adaptive, you can choose that the switching will change the suspension as well.

IMO reconsider the "variable steering" and get the HUD. good luck
cheers

VSS is no longer a standalone option, it is bundled with M adaptive and now called DHP.
