X5 5.0 Msport ?

Friend ordering X5 5.0 with Msport and cold weather. Should have paddles, but not 100% on heated steering wheel. BMW USA is vague.

Can anyone confirm heated steering wheel with Msport, paddles and cold weather?

Will be Dec Build.

Thanks,

A

Thts the only thing I was upset about with my car. If you get m sport with the m steering wheel with pAddles you can not get heated steering wheels. You can however down grade to cheaper non m steering wheel without paddles and with heat.

I ordered both and got a heated "M" steering wheel with paddle shifters. Produced 11/12.

The build sheet that I got from my dealer actually listed the heated steering wheel as a no charge option(248) not as part of the cold weather package. I also got soft close doors as part of the premium package2. Neat feature but I wouldn't have spent $600 on it(the cost when it was a stand alone option).

Thanks for all your help.

Guys, are you sure you got the M heated steering wheel with M Sport package with paddles? Because I asked and begged the dealer for them to configure my truck with this. I just took delivery on mine about 4 weeks ago. You can check my thread here: Fully loaded 2013 50i with M Sport and M Performance package both my Sales Rep, and my F&I Director, and having My CA call up BMW direct and check his computer they told me: If I want M Performance steering wheel with paddle shifters than I CAN NOT GET Heated steering wheel. I just went through this with them a few weeks ago, so unless something has changed within the last 3 weeks that I dont know about, Im pretty sure my dealer wouldnt lie to me on a custom build. Just so you know I am being honest, you can check my delivery thread here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...050&highlight=

So, I am a little upset with BMW and the proper channels for not letting me know how another 2013 M Sport M Performance 50i owner is telling me he got the heated steering wheel w/ M Package. I have NEVER seen or heard of this before.
It even says it right here on the BMW usa website clearly that "you can only get heated steering wheel IF you have M Sport package un checked":

That is my build sheet posted above. It started production at the beginning of November. You can see that the order went in on October 27th and I took delivery on November 12th. I have a heated "M" steering wheel with paddle shifters. It's different from my M5 wheel as it does not have the M color stitching though.

Wow. Thanks for the pictures beamer. I can not believe my dealer couldnt find a simple add on like that. I am so dissapointed. Any reason why you think the dealer would tell me if I get M Sport I cant have a heated steering wheel? 100% He explained to me paddle shifter M = no heat. I can definitely live with it, but I am a tad dissapointed. lol Thanks again for the clarification bro.

You're welcome. Like a lot of things, I think it's lack of education and lack of desire to go the extra mile to make the customer happy. I've heard of things getting done by certain dealers/people that the average SA wouldn't dream of being possible.

I couldn't get a heated steering wheel on my 335D M-Sport with paddle shifters either. I think the designers were just lazy.

I committed to the order on 10/22 and they had to trade for an allocation with Fairfax. Submitted the order to BMW on the 27th(Saturday) and the car went into production the following Monday. It left Spartenburg on the 9th and I took delivery on Monday 11/12.

The center button on the right side of the steering wheel is for turning it on, correct? I have a similar option on mine but haven't tried since it's not yet that cold outside for me to use this.

That's odd . Mine has heat and paddles. Actually, it was a pleasant surprise to see it when I got the car. I was expecting it wouldn't be there.

On the down side, it's not putting out much heat. Dealer is diagnosing it right now.

I'd be interested in hearing what they say. The one in my M5 puts out way more heat than the one in the X5.

Yup. Thanks to BeamerandBeemer and his picture and info sheet posted it seems all the dealer has to do is add on a simple FREE option with your order if you have the M paddle steering wheel. I am a little disappointed that my dealer didnt know about this but no big deal, I can live without it.

I was just like you, when I ordered my car I was kinda hoping I would get heated wheel but assuming I probably wouldnt, because of the bmwusa website and what my sales rep told me.

Cheers bro.

Dom

ps- dont forget to keep me posted on your updates. I am in the same boat as you. Its like people and techs dont want to believe us. Crazy. Its too much of a coincidence that we are M Performance Package owners with builds a month or so apart with the same exact problem. Carbon Deposits, Rich Fuel Exhaust Odor coming into cabin, horrible gas mileage below 10. Yet the people without performance pack are getting normal MPG between 14 and 20
