2013 X5 35i White smoke out of left exhaust only

Hi all,

I just noticed today when cold starting my car (NYC) white smokey color vapor coming out of only the left exhaust. I am ok with the white smoke for a cold start on a cold day but it only came out of the left exhaust. Obviously I expected to see both pipes emitting some vapor, but coming out of only one concerns me. Its a brand new car and i am wondering if this is also something that needs to be broken in from use. Thanks in advance for the help.

It's by design. Nothing to worry about.

Yup, right pipe does not flow at low throttle due to a valve BMW has in the exhaust system.

Yup, been discussed before. Just a quirk and design of the exhaust system.

You'll notice the driver side is always dirtier. Compared to passenger side because if this. On all 3.5s.

*****Edit*****
M performance 3.5s don't have this issue.

Not if you have the M Performance exhaust, both sides get it the same.
