335IS Production Volume??
Anyone know? I've googled it and can't find anything. Would be very interested in knowing just how many 335IS cars they made. Here in San Diego I see a 335i every time I turn around, but I've yet to see a single other iS.

Saw my first one today, a 2011 with 13,403 miles for sale at my local dealers (the previous owner was rough on the wheels):

My wife saw a black coupe on her way to work on El Camino Real a few times after we ordered our car and before we left for Munich but she hasn't seen it since. There was a red coupe at the 9/10 autocross (I took 1st!) but haven't seen him since. Before we ordered our car back in January there was probably a dozen coupes and convertibles at BMW South County.

I've seen 3 335is' in SD, one E93 in white, one E92 in white and one E92 in red. Likely is that BMW will never release production numbers, same as with the ZHP package. If they built about the same as the ZHP then I can say the current estimate on total ZHP's built is between 5-7000, so 335is should be in the same range

Dunno. BMW sold 1430 E91s in the US in 2009 and I'd hardly consider my car any sort of an investment. It's definitely not going to be the next E9, Isetta or 2002.

Sounds like you all need to get out a drive more. Or better yet have yourself a meet-up and go for a nice drive.

i've got to believe production numbers are out there. I'll keep searching (when I'm out on the roads too!!). I did see a pretty sick red Ferrari 458 Italia in Encinitas yesterday, but no 335iS.

If my memory serves correctly, GM only sold a few hundred ZO6 Corvettes in 2010 and fewer this year. Overall Corvette sales have been down since 2009 (Porsche 911 has been down too). People opted to buy the cheaper Corvette Grand Sport model because it looks like the higher performing ZO6. But, it's all subjective without hard numbers. I have not seen any 335is in my area that is loaded with 335i and 328i (s). I did see one with a dealer tag at my dealer last month when my wife's car was in for an oil change.

Whether the 335is is worth the extra money over the 335i is an individual decision but the increase in resale value of the 335is over the 335i will not be enough to justify the price difference.
IMO I think that it makes more sense to purchase a 335is than to tune a 335i CA

I am a happy owner of a 2012 335is. I usually see a lot of whatever I buy and I can tell you that in the couple of months that I have had mine, well I have seen none in the Seattle, WA area. I have heard that one of my friends of a friend has a 2011 335is. I am beginning to suspect that they are pretty rare. I would also like to know the number as well.
My wife went from a 1999 A4 to the 335is. She took it on about a 100 mile round trip and said: Finally you got me a car with some power to get out of the way of crazy drivers. -- P.S. The other car is a 2010 X5 with the 4.8 V8... LOL |

My wife says that she sees about 4-5 around but that she's seen less than 10 total. This would be mostly in San Diego County, but she also drives to Orange County 1-3 times/month, and occasionally LA County. I've seen a few but mostly when I'm with her, because she spots them and points them out (I tend to see more Z4s now!). She said for awhile she was seeing more convertibles than coupes. I've never seen a 335is convertible nor another Le Mans Blue.

The only other one I've seen has been on the local dealers lot for four or five months now which I think is pretty funny as they could have sold it to me had they not been so arrogant and unreasonable. I ended up driving 350 miles away to buy mine.

West Side Houston, I've seen two regularly on the road. One is black, significantly modded, custom wheels, dark tints, etc., and a white one that is pretty much stock.
Honestly, in my neck of the woods, in order of popularity are 5 SUV's, 7 series sedans, 5 series sedans, 3 series SUVs = 3 series sedans, 3 series cabrios = 3 series coupes = 6 series cabrios. I used to be the only 3er cabrio that routinely ran my route, now I'm just another one. Too many people around here lease and wouldn't know an 'is' from an Isetta if they were hit over the head with it. So, yes - an IS definitely has desireability because they aren't commonplace.

![]() I think I have seen a 335is in the flesh perhaps three times since the model was introduced. Not surprising given how uncommon even an ordinary 335i/xi is, hereabouts--I'm lucky to spot another one once every three weeks or so. I guess the HPFP flap spooked most buyers in the NYC area, where 328s are ubiquitous.
