Just Picked up an 07 550i

Tried another BMW after getting our '12 X5 diesel in August. This time a '07 550i with only 46k miles on it. Monaco Blue with graphite interior. Seems like a really nice driving car.

No warranty. Was only planning on keeping the car 1-2 years so figured we may try just going without buying one (i feel like this may be a mistake). 1 owner with all the service records at our BMW dealer. Got a steal of a deal on this car thats whats making me think drive it a year or two and then get rid of it and try something else without losing too much.


Noticed this AM though that the heater seemed kinda weak. I only have a 7mile commute, but it takes me 10-15minutes since its a bit of slow city driving then about 4.5 miles down the interstate. I had the i-drive settings at full heated and pointed right at me but it was still quite... luke warm. My Infiniti usually is scalding hot half way through this trip and the X5 heats up in a jiffy as well thats what concerns me. I'v never noticed this car's heating issue as it normally sits in a heated garage and its been warmish since I picked it up friday.

Transmission seems like it can be smooth as butter some times, then randomly shift kinda hard from 1-2 or 2-3 if the car is cold (may just be a 5 year old transmission??? Its the 6speed Auto)

Other than that, the car seems pretty bullet proof. Starts right up every day and doesn't make any weird noises. Interior is solid and doesn't make a single pop or squeak.

I'v been researching around and see you are fairly experienced with the 550is. Just trying to gather some information from all these threads. Theres a wealth of it out there!
