1st time Bimmer owner Mechanical Warranty ?

I purchased my 1st 2008 535i BMW in 6/2012 with an extended mechanical warranty from a 3rd party which was included in my total purchase price. (I bought from used car dealership not a BWM lot) there is a $50 deduct and covers for 2yrs/24k miles. I took my car to the BMW dealership for a routine oil change. My advisor tells me that there is a CPO extended mechanical warranty already on my vehicle that doesn't expire til 1/29/2014/100k with $50 deduct. So of course I dont need both, so do you think that the 3rd party warranty would cancel and give me a refund for the warranty or they could change the date to start after 2014 when the BMW warranty expires? I do plan to call, but wanted feedback 1st. I asked my advisor why the purchasing dealer couldnt see the current CPO mechanical warranty info, he says they may not have info to BMW info. Like always, when you take your car for 1 thing, there is always something else. So they told me I have an oil leak, but hey, to pay just $50 is not a problem.

You would need to read the extended warranty contract, but most warranties can be cancelled for a pro rated refund. Since you already have the CPO I would try to cancel if I were you. Warranties cannot be post dated that I know of so I don't think that you can just change the start date.

Since the dealer selling the car was not a BMW dealer they probably did not have access the BMW's records and may not have known that the CPO warranty was already on there. Hope this helps.
