How long to transfer during coding?
Finally got my ENET cable today and ready to start off with a full backup later this evening.
What's the timing for transferring data for a full backup and when making changes? Few seconds? Few minutes? Just trying to get some idea of how long it will take (and how long is too long). I assume as long as I'm connected to OBD port and laptop the computers will all remain on, right? I have a batter charger I can hook up if needed if it will take some time to do the coding work.

Code the car with engine running...No need for a charger.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=653389 I had similar concerns, but it only take a minute or so and you can read them all at once... Coding only takes a minute or so to edit and code the FDL. I did not hook up to a charger or run the motor and I did (2) separate sessions and drove the car once in between to test and try to get some more charge on the battery. I made sure to turn off radio, A/C, headlights, DRL, interior light, etc. You should be fine... I do not like the idea of the charger at least one member said he got errors connecting (i think) when using the charger. Disconnecting the charger seemed to fix his issues... |
