Why no 640xi?
Why doesn't BMW offer 4WD with the 640 GC? Are they trying to steer people to a higher price point with the 650xi?

If I had to guess, I would say it is a packaging issue with the I6 N55 and the xDrive system. The V8 is probably shorter so the center diff can fit below, if the i6 is taller the hood wouldn't close. From talking with people at BMW and connecting trends this is the normal reason decisions like this are made.
