Bad tps?

I have a feeling that my tps is bad or off cal the most predominate reason i can tell you is when doing a stomp test it takes several stomps and its when i release the pedal is the problem i have to let it spring back kinda hard for it to tell that a press was done which makes me think tps also causing my idle problem as i installed a new idle valve and it will not open it hums but when i start the car it fires all six maybe once and dies am i headed in the right direction? I dont want to put 80 bucks into the wrong part

if you open the throttle with your hand you should hear the throttle switch click just past the throttle rest position. Maybe a previous owner adjusted the throttle stop screw thinking it was for the idle..

Check throttle cable ! & return spring
If your throttle blade does not open completely when somebody steps on the padal, with carpets installed...
Then release the pedal slowly & the throttle blade should return to its stop automatically.
