Fist BMW

Am considering my fist BMW and would like to solicit input from experts. First off, I am buying a diesel engine wrapped in a BMW. Iím a big time diesel head, but donít want ĺ ton truck, and while the Mercedes in nice, I like the straight 6 BMW motor more. That being said I have a test drive set up for Sat. for a:
2011/335d/19,000 miles/Sapphire Black/Sprt pkg/Premium pkg beauty.
This combo seems to be quite hard to find, that Sport package seems somewhat rare. A few questions:
1) Known issues? Iíve seen some complaints about a/c compressors, but other than that most people seem to rave about the engine. What should I pay close attention to?
2) How is the sport package to live with as a daily driver? Is the ride that much harsher with the low profile tires and ďSportĒ suspension? If I eliminate the Sport package from my search criteria, MANY more options to choose from, but love that look!
3) Have concerns about maintenance. Iím a Toyota/Honda driver and Iím spoiled by their reliability and low cost for parts. When BMW says 6 years/100,000 all scheduled maintenance, how real is that? I may drive this car forever, and worry about long term maintenance.
Appreciate any advice, Iím afraid that after the test drive I wonít be able to return the keys, but then again, Audi is putting that diesel in the A6 next yearÖ
Thanks All,
Geoff

Geoff, drift over to the F10 board and ping a guy named "Dunderhi".

PM him if you want .... he is a big BMW believer and has an F10 and an E90 diesel that I'm sure he would be more than happy to tell you good things about

I think you should consider a spelling checker.

There also is a specific diesel forum here on Bimmerfest that has tons of useful info. There has been a somewhat recent recall on the diesels.

Spell checker wouldn't have solved the nasty title of this thread!

Go on over to the diesel forum: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/for...ysprune=&f=154

The only A/C problem has been belt problems.
Sport package is fine (for me). Others don't like it; plenty of threads here in F3x about sport vs. regular and RFT vs GoFlat
6 years/100K is a CPO warranty. Maintenance is extra, usually $2500 or so - be sure it's pre-paid.

Main problems with 335d have been EGR, SCR (mixer/injector or pump). See diesel forum
