2011 328i sedan High pitched noise

Just purchased a used 2011 328i 6 speed auto about a month ago. Noticed a high pitched sound from the rear end usually between 40 - 60 mph. Although, you can hear it up to 60 less pronounced. Took it to the dealer and they're going to replace the diff. Been reading the discussions and this seems to be an ongoing problem with this vehicle. anybody had good results with the differential replacement?

I am getting the diff replaced as well. I have been waiting since August for them to get me one however. I just got an update from the dealer and they are still waiting for it to come in. They told me it is being "hand built" which is how they are handling these excessive whine issues, and why it is taking so long. Don't know what hand built means or how it differs from any other way they build it.

Differential

Is this the 1st time you brought this problem to the dealership? As for the time delay. I can only think it's bull****. or, they're going to a hand build where they actually mike/measure all lashing and polish it up. Still think it's bull. I'll also reply if I get the same treatment. BMW can say it's within their specifications and shine you a finger. I'll state it's not within my specifications and hit the lemon law.
