Sea foam?

What's up e36 fan boys and girls ! I've heard so much about sea foam being magical or worthless. Thought I should ask you guys before I spend the 20 bucks or whatever on it, does this stuff actually work.? And how well? Or should I use something/ do something else in terms of easy cleaning for my fuel system.? Thanks forum !

1. It shouldn't be more than $9 or $10.
2. It is a quite good product. I've been using it a few years now over several different cars.

It does work well when used as intended. Its a great product. Magic? No. Its not a cure all or silver bullet. The question is, what are you looking to achieve with it?

I found Seafoam for $6 at Lowes of all places. I also found the best offline price for Ethernet cables.
I always add seafoam in my oil and gas before I change my oil and I am happy with the results. The first time you use seafoam you should get the spray can too and run it though the intake. It is so much easier than try to add the liquid to a vacuum line.

I'm trying to achieve the conscious well being that I did something positive to my fuel system, and it's extremely cold here in Indiana so I don't want to really replace any fuel parts or lines, maybe increase my mileage just a bit ?

Typically before Seafoam in a car, I go through the basics first though:

-spark plugs
-air filter
-fuel filter
-clean ICV
-clean MAF

Then I make sure to do the seafoam bit just BEFORE an oil change. (100-300 miles before) when you put the seafoam through the crankcase at least. Not needed so much when just sucking it through the vacuum lines or putting it through the tank.

Right on man, pretty simple yet essential stuff ! I just changed my plugs but ill clean my maf and icv! What do you use to clean those ? Just some electronics cleaner?

There are specific MAF cleaners you can get at most big box stores. I just use those myself.

Extremely cold? Which part of indiana are you in? It's 46*F (8*C) right now which is motorcycle weather to Ed.

Lol, speaking of, its colder than that here (30 *F or so) and I rode to work today.

That's flipping absurd. I draw the line at about 55 (with full cold weather gear), which means as long as it's not raining most days here are motorcycle days.

Oh good god you guys are crazy, 50 degrees is the coldest I can go on my bike with full gear, other than that my hands freeze to my handle bars

We came up with this brilliant idea a long time ago of covering our hands with the skin of other animals to keep them warm
