Lightbulb M performance issues

I've been talking to our fellow forum member "yahtzee5
Throughout the day and he has a choice between an incredibly loaded 5.0
Msport w PP
We were in the process of finding out this particilar trucks build date but also wated to know from any member that were having issues specifically with performance package edition
I know z51 and a couple have other guys have seriously low Mpgs in there first few thousands miles
Can u guys post ur build dates and experience so far to see if there is a pattern forming
And even if u don't have issues tell us ur experience thus far with your 3.5 or 5.0 pp edition
Please state wich one u have and if your happy
All the best
Rob and Daryl

Rob, are you getting really low mpg? Seems like Z51 has a fairly isolated case. Could be as simple as a sensor causing it to run rich.

No my truck is slowly creeping up
its at 10.6mpg. no weird smells or black sut on the pipes
i was just asking for a forum member that was looking at a Mperformance and it had AD and Active steering

although i am wondering should the 13 14 mpg variable be happening right from begining of the life of the vehicle or does it take time to break in

can anyone who is getting these 13-16 mpg numbers verify?
TIA
Rob

Mein Auto: BMW X5 50i M Performance
I switched the display in the instrument cluster to mpg on my drive in to work this morning, and it stayed pretty steady at 17.5 (50i w/performance package). That's mostly city driving from a DC suburb into the city. I'm not noticing any strange odors; I can't tell if my exhaust is depositing anything on the bumper because my car is carbon black to begin with!

Rob, sorry I didn't get the videos of engine sound up the other day. Both kids got sick.

Just picked-up 2013 X5 Msport 50i w/performance package and 20" wheels on December 21. First 150 miles around town in Xmas traffic with lots of short trips and an occasional heavy foot getting 12 mpg. With my old 2010 4.8i with 20 " wheels would get 13.5 mpg on same route. Took an interstate trip yesterday (350 miles) mostly 80 mph indicated (77 mph actual) in heavy rain and some wind and got 21mpg. That is slightly better than the 4.8i. Overall, pretty much what I was expecting. The difference in power/acceleration is worth the slightly lower city mpg. Definitely the model to get imho. I tried the 3.5i and the diesel but could feel a tip off lag in both that I thought would bother me over time. With either 5.0i I could not detect a lag. So after a 4.8i it was an easy choice. By the way, the rear air suspension that you get with the performance option completely changes the character of the car compared to my old 4.8i with the sport package and 20" wheels.

I was somewhere around 16mpg @1000 miles, but probably more because of a heavy foot with the excitement of a new vehicle.

Maybe I should reset my mpg trip setting
I have 1k miles in car but have only been on the highway a total of 50 miles... I got know where to go!
A one month old and 2 1/2 ur old and don't work a ton.
Kinda retired at 40...lol
For the moment !

The car runs like a beast
No misfires no exhaust fumes no weird tranny downshifting
Cars been great so far
Knock on wood
Just mpg seems a bit low

I just reset the mpg consumption
Only a 10 mile drive but here's the results

Bimmers; ur getting almost 18 for 5k
Is that an average on the trip computer?
Or
Is that on 1 tank of gas?
Ps I hit the throttle a few times ad passed a few people And then it dropped to 13.4
Cheers
Rob

Mine is the computer average of about two thousand miles. I'll try to take a picture this morning. My average speed is also in the upper forties, If my average speed was in the teens I would expect to see what you're seeing.
