Anyone else own E90, E91, E92 and E93?
Just realized that I've owned all the E9x series now. Not all at the same time but since 2006 we've had all variants.
Having extensive experience with all models, the E91 and E93 are clearly head an shoulders above the rest. With hindsight I would not have bothered with the sedans or coupe. Used prices seem to agree. Think I'd recommend a used 911/ Cayman over the E92 and a Civic or Accord over the E90. I owned a Civic for about eighteen months after the E92 and loved it. I did have to add sound deadening bit that was reasonably inexpensive and a doddle to install.

That took a few seconds to get
Not borrowed on a car since the first one after graduation and highly recommend to all - friends/ co-workers laughed for years but I finally got a decent car aged twenty-eight. Euro Delivery E46 323i which was actually 100% fault free for the 24K miles I owned it

Actually I see the point of an 335i E92, cheap-ish to buy new with very decent power etc. Sold my E92 328i at under 4K miles as I didn't care much for it. Wish we'd kept the E91 as they've really held their value and I don't fancy a four cylinder turbo. We swapped cars often due to moving to London and then back to the US (made ~2x the money there but it's not worth the lifestyle change). With no time to order BMWs we bought a Civic and CR-V off-the-lot when we returned and they were wonderful cars; we'd had only BMWs for many years prior and not realized how good modern Hondas had become. The only major difference is the lack that solid feeling and have a bit more road noise Wonder if I'll be the only one that's owned all four? Guess it is a little odd as most love a certain style and stick with it (the silver Miata in the picture is my second silver Miata, first was a '91 NA and the NB's shape never grabbed me)

I have to agree about the 'bang for the buck' factor with the Civic. You get a great car for the money. Actually most any Honda is a good value. All that said, when we are buying a BMW we are not buying them for the value are we? The Civic or an Accord is basically an appliance (to us, certainly not to the proud first time owner). A BMW is evocative, emotional, impractical for tightwads, an ego stroking conveyance, but a suitable weapon for the cut and thrust of daily commuting for the more sporting. We hate to admit it, and many of our lengthiest threads have debated it, but a BMW says who we are.

Guess it's an ego stroke that I seem to be the only regular here that's owned all of them. Also to encourage sedan owners to look at the wagon next time and coupe owner to look at the convertible next time. Not that our sedans were bad purchases; neither the coupe either really even though I didn't care much for it. The coupe was a very competent highway car and ok in twisties - maybe it should be considered an affordable GT?

3 out of 4 here. Have owned all but the vert. Just not a veritlble person, I guess; never have been.
Loved our E91; if anyone said I only could have one car, it would be the 3er wagon. Practicality, good looks, goes like a bimmer. E90, well, had it only briefly, but was a lot of fun. Mine was deep sea blue (loved that color) with 6MT and ZSP. Not the fastest car on the road but very satisfying to drive. |

Your Lexus handled like a camry because thats what it is! Comparing a civic to a 3 series is downright absurd. You are comparing apples to watermelons. 2 total different class of cars.

Honestly it's not, they were a lot closer than I'd ever had expected. Was only because of the international moving I ended up with the Civic and honestly I was stunned. When you first climb in one after a BMW it feels cheap but once that's over with they are great cars. Handling is not bad, about the same interior/ trunk space, decent ride, not too noisy with the aftermarket pads.. quite amazing for ~$17K new. Main difference was reliability - not a single issue

Eyes of the beholder - BMW Coupe any day.
However also very much like my Lexus GS - not to be confused with the ES/Camry. |

It is pleasant knowing BMWs are not upgraded versions of 'inferior cars'; even better noticing Rolls Royce have interior parts from a three series

If I was alright with only two seats, I would definitely have test drove the Cayman (S). I still almost did despite myself, I was real close. With 4 seats, I probably wouldn't go with a Panamera at the price, not that I could afford one.
Lucky you, to have had all four to play with at different times. |

![]() Amazing cars, not sure I'd call current models minimal. Backup camera and bluetooth are standard - features most BMW owners don't have. There was a least one other item mine had that BMWs didn't have but it escapes me now.
