E46 2003 drivers door wil not manually lock or unlock
The drivers door on my E46 will not lock or unlock with the key manually inserted. It feels like the key/lock is not connected to anything.
The beeper key works to lock and unlock the car, however on occassion it fails and I have to manually unlock the car. Does any one know what the problem is with the door lock? Major 2014

There is a physical connection between the lock cylinder and the electronic actuator which is easy to check without removing the door panel. I'd start there...
Here's a great thread on the topic: http://www.bmwenthusiasts.co.uk/foru...php?f=55&t=941 To remove the key mechanism from the door is quite easy. There is a black rubberized covering inside the door (striker side) that hides an access hole to the retaining screw. This image from a Fanatics thread shows how to access it:
