2015 X3 - change to LED Headlights

My 201 X3 28i has a projector lens for the halogen headlights. These are H7 size bulbs.

Has anyone here replaced them with LED lights, without issues relating to the *length* of the bulbs?

i.e. for those a little more familiar, some bulb length sizes differ. If they are longer, they may hit the projector lens.

This is what I'm hearing from someone local, so taking his advice and asking on the forums. If someone else has replaced them, can you share which bulbs you used (e.g. link from eBay, etc.)?

Most of the newer bulbs now have the canbus and are error free and cool.

I did not change my headlights to led because I have hid. But I did change my front and rear signal lights to led. They are canbus error free led. However, I did not have any error for the front but the rears did. Some vehicles can be very sensitive and can still throw errors. I had to add resistors for the rear to correct the errors showing. I also change my rear brake lights to led as well and no errors. Its a hit or miss regarding the sensitivity.

You do need to remember not all led will give you the same lumens as halogen bulbs, so check its lumen output else you will have a weaker illumination.
Check out superbrightleds.com and bimmian.com for the length and lumens.

Hope this help

Most of the aftermarket LED low beam will not be as bright as the oem HID or LED. Halogen projectors also has a narrower projection cone than HID projectors.
