6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations. |

SAE or Powerlet connector
Does anyone know if there is an SAE or Powerlet style connector anywhere on a 6 series that can be used to charge the battery please?
I was thinking of getting a ctek charger and comfort pigtail which connects via an SAE connector. I could also get an SAE to Powerlet adapter. |

So no-one has had an answer and my further research indicates that the Powerlet connectors are more common on BMW motorcycles.
So, ctek also sells a comfort indicator with eyelet connections. Are there any risks associated with unbolting the positive and negative terminals in the engine bay to place the eyelets on them please? |

Way less weekend activity on this board so you would be lucky to get an answer in 3 hours.
Here is a thread with pics of the quick-disconnect connectors you are asking about. CTEK offers them. Most people are adding them in the trunk. If you do a search you will find a few threads talking about the pros and cons of charging at the battery vs under the hood as recommended by BMW. I would drill a small hole in the positive charging plate under the red positive terminal cover and use a small bolt to attach the quick connect wire. The negative can be attached anywhere you can find a decent chassis connection.

Thank you Yorgi! (Wonder how many hits I would get if I searched for those words. :-)
I will search on some other words and read the post you linked. I like your suggestion. |
