Mein Auto: 2013 BMW X3
IDrive and Iphone Music

I put this under General because I believe all the BMW iDrive systems work pretty much alike. I have a 2013 X3 with iDrive, an iPhone 4s (64GB with BMW Apps), and a iPhone Snap-In Adapater in the center console. I have loaded all my iTunes music onto my iPhone and that works fine. When I plug my iPhone into the adapter I can play all the music just fine and run the BMW Apps. I was under the impression from the Owner's Manual (Navigaton,Entertainment,Communications) that all the songs would be uploaded onto the BMW's Hard Drive, and then I could play them without the iPhone plugged in. They do not seem to upload from the adapter. (In fact the manual says it will upload if I connect a USB device via the USB audio interface. Does anybody have thoughts on what I am doing wrong and what I could do to get the songs to upload?? Thanx

You cannot upload the music from your iDevice to the hard drive on your BMW. I can't speak about the 2013 X3 but on the 2011 E92 there is a USB port inside the glove box on the left side solely for loading music onto the hard drive from a USB drive (not an MP3 device).

While you think these system all work pretty much the same, you'd probably get a better and more accurate response if you post in the X3 forum. I would also read your owner's manual again more carefully.

P.S. It's "iDrive" and "iPhone". Companies pay pretty close attention to their branding and these products are specifically spelled this way for a reason.
