My new (ish) bimmer

Hey folks,
I was lurking for info and the the auto reminder that I haven't posted in several weeks (actually years) got to me.
In the last year I had and sold, 02 325i sport, 03 540it m pack wagon and am now selling my 2000 740i sport pack. Had to money juggle and rearrange my herd. Usually I only have one at a time. Always kind of old and high miles due to my income.
Just bought an 08 328i wagon and had some questions.
Came with 18" run flats on BMW rims (perhaps from a 330? )
One owner (carfax)
I usually look for sport seats, steering wheel and suspension but this one looked good, clean , one owner and most importantly I could afford it (12K$)
I really like the non sport seats (I mean really!) as I am nearing 60 and even when I drive .......like the old days , I am never really tossed around. The standard steering wheel feels like my sport wheel on my older cars and so no biggie there.
With the 18" run flats, I think the sport suspension would hurt me. That is unless the guy ordered it with the sports suspension and not the seats and wheel ????
How can a non machanic type tell if this has the sports where it counts. If it doesn't I really would not want it any more stiff.
Thinking about standard high speed tires but where would one put the spare? Even a dounut spare (which would not be my first choice)
I do not know hoew to insert and image or I would show you a photo of my new baby but here is where I got it from http://www.ocproautos.com/index.asp?...=947&ImageID=1
Advice would be welcome,
also 2000 740i sport up for sale ....cheap.

Great car! And I hope that it lasts you a long time. I'm no expert on these cars. But I can say that it's not a factory Sport model as evidenced by the non-Sport steering wheel.

My guess is that the previous owner just slapped on some great looking wheels. But that's only a guess.

And yes, despite all the hurrah over the Sport seats, the non-Sport are certainly great seats. I've done a few road trips with our non-Sport and it's the most comfortable seat I've been in.

We love to hear about the high-milers. Keep us updated from time to time on the durability of your 328i.

I went with non-run flat tires and only carry a spare on trips. I just use one of the full size from another set I have, but there is supposedly a spare that will fit - just search for it if interested. Otherwise I just keep the phone with me.

Thanks for the input.
Sold the 740i sport today.......... whew!
If even the dounut spare would really fit somewhere other than just stuffing it in the rear I would love it. Anyone know if this is possible?
Going to try non rft's 18's to ease up on the rough ride and slight steering rumble, before i go with trading down to 17's
I have had about 40 BMW's , wagons, 2 doors , 4 doors, 1600, 1800, 2002, bavaria, 325, 540, 733, 735, 740 and loved them all.
still haven't figured out how to post photos so here again

When you post choose "Go Advanced", the choose "Manage Attachments". Impressive list of past Bimmers. I'm jealous.

Thanks folks

Thanks to you all for responses.
Hi there,
my first experience with the dreaded run flats. Don't get me wrong, I like the concept but...

This came with 18" BMW wheels and bridgestone runflats with some life left on them.
Very firm ride but it does track well on smooth surfaces, feels the same and I do not bottom out like I used to with my 17" sport packages did on the old E46 wagon.
Quickly bought the small spare package (hasn't arrived yet) and planning to make a carpeted case with trap door opening to carry when going far from home. Question: will non run flats (18") make a significant difference in firmness and handling,
How about going down to 17" non run flats (trading in the 18's)
Right now I am not doing anything but driving . am , however, planning for the future when I need to get even one new tire.
Also, any advice on the automatic rear cover automatic opening action when I use the rear window to access the storage.
I am sure there is a trick to it but sometimes there is just a click and I have to open manually.
Thanks in advance for any input.
