New Brake usage software coming
I read a few posts around here talking about rear brake pad wear etc and I had my car in the shop with a message to change the rear brakes in 1200km.
The dealer checked them out for me and found they are still almost new... I asked why the car was asking for them to he changed/checked and they commented that there is some updates coming to fix this, and they are expected out in March/April 2013. Apparently they use some logic that very incorrectly (and I have seen this on my own car) predicts the replacement requirements... BMW apparently has even told the dealers to not bother to reset the service reminder for this (there is two reminders one for when the brakes make contact with the disc, and the predictive logic one, which is what I reference here) as it will just come back pretty much right away... The fix coming out is to correct this predictive logic reminder... I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of this, or maybe even had software applied to attempt to correct this.... I'm a sucker for software punishment so I'm sure I'll run to get the update when its 'ready'.... |
