The Ms are NOT prewired. Makes the install a BIT more difficult.

I have an ///M front end with Hella Optilux 1100 series fogs. They light up as good or better than the stock ones I used to have and fit great on the M front bumper cover.

Joe, would you have any closeup pics of your fogs? Also, the entire front end. Thanks.

I noticed that Circle BMW has a factory kit on sale. There is a link with the ad that has the installation instructions. Look under M Fog Light Kit.

This is the route I am going. I have the Hella Optilux 1100 kit, and some HOEN H3s for them to match the rest of my headlights. Hopefully I will have the install this Thurs.

what will you be using for the fog light switch? I read the cluster doesn't have a lamp indicator for fogs on the M either.

There is a switch included with the Hella kit. I plan on mounting it in the, what I belive to be, the factory location. Just to the left of the steering wheel, there is a blank.

Any daytime shots of how it looks on your silver car from the front? Also, did you wire in the switch yet? So far it looks very nice, if its easy enough to install and not too $$ it will be very tempting

No daytinme shots yet. The MC is filthy will all the rain we've had recently. Maybe tomorrow aftetr a detail this evening; I'll then be relegated to the Geo Prism for the next several days.

Oh yeah - the switch. I didn't use the one that came with the kit, instead one that the shop reccommended. It is smaller and fits in the OEM location.

I can get pics of that for you and get them up later today or tomorrow

Switch Pics

That little dot at the top of the button is a green LED that lights up when the switch is active. HTH

Val, here are the pictures during the day. Still a pretty 'clean' front end with the silver. Some were taken with and some without the flash.

The remaining pictures tt different angles and whatnot I added to my original write up HERE HTH

Wow, those look better than the factory kit I have. What does it take to install the hella units?

The factory kit is pretty daunting... It is a whole bunch of wiring to do. It even comes with a new headlight switch that you install in your dash... but no tool to remove the old one...

It does have all the factory connectors... But I still like the looks of your hella lights better...

What did you screw them to? Drill, or just a bolt in there? Hole already there? More details please...

Does anyone want to buy my factory kit? Just curious. Its new in box... And its very complex. It has fuses, and switches, and it integrates with the factory headlights so that hte fogs are not on when high beams are on and such. So when you switch to brights, the fogs turn off. It looks very complated. It has relays, and wires, and all kinds of stuff. If you want to do it right though, this it the kit....

Selling because I have way too many projects to do right now... Selling at cost, and will throw in free shipping... I bought it from Paul, so its as cheap as you will find it anywhere.

I didn't do the install (not good with electrical projects), but from what I understand from my stereo shop tech/installer, it was rather straightforward. They are wired directly to the battery, so I do need to be careful about turning them off, but that's too hard. There is a fuse (15A) wired in at both the switch, and near the top left corner area of the engine bay.

See the pics with the bracket?

The bracket screws into the top plane, from the underside, of the brake cooling duct entry. The housing themselves are held into the bracket by small, son-uva-b!tch-hard-to-get-to hex bolts horizontally. I was present when were aiming, and there is a small attachment tool that was trick for getting into this tight space.

It mounts onto the end of the power drill/screwdriver, then does about a 80* turn. Kind of hard to explain, but it make turning the hex bolt in such a tight area a piece of cake.

The placement was determined by drawing a straight line vertically down from the center of the low beam lens.

Here are some shots I took today. You can get a better idea of what they look like in outdoor light.
