All BMWs Using Dragon Drive with iPhone 5

Since this is the most tech savvy board on bimmerfest, hoping you can help.

I cannot get Dragon Drive to work with my iPhone 5. I can create a message and press send. However the message does not actually get sent to my iPhone. It just says sent on iDrive, but the iPhone doesn't do anything.

I have been running iOS 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and most recently 6.3.

My software version and settings are as shown in these pictures.

Any advice?

it completely sucks. This is the best feature of the new iDrive and no one is using it.

It probably doesn't help you at all but Dragon Drive works perfect with my Android (Samsung Galaxy S3)
Kind of ironic a feature might actually work with Android rather than IOS
Haven't tried an iPhone so can't provide any more help on this particular front.

Any updates on this? I just tried to use it in my new 7 series along with my iPhone 5 and had the same issues. Seems like such a cool feature, but what's the point if it doesn't work with latest/greatest hardware.

There is a board member called wdimagineer who has no issues with iPhone 5 compatibility for Dragon Drive messaging. However I have not been able to figure out what he is doing differently to us.

Well, after much digging, I discovered that since the Office functions (calendar, etc) are not supported on iPhones, Dragon Drive will also not work. This appears to be an Apple issue whereby they don't allow sharing of data. In any event, if you check out this BMW website, and enter your vehicle information, you can see what devices and which Office functions are supported. http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...hframedin.aspx

Bummer, but until Apple addresses issue, it's not going to change anytime soon.

That link says SMS messages won't display but they do fine as we all know so I don't trust it that much!

"Our BMW technical team has advised that at this time, it is currently not possible to send recorded messages through an iPhone. This is due to the fact that Apple software does not have the ability to do so. Regretfully, there is not an ETA available regarding when this feature will be compatible with Apple iPhones. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause. "
