X1 Pricing

Ready to put an order for an Xi and wondering how much should I be paying over invoice, here is the configured price:

I saw a few posts stating 500 over invoice is doabe so I guess ($39,990+$500)=$40,490 is the offer i should be making.

Also wanted to purchase the BMW Maintenance program (extended warranty) that MSRP is $2,095 not sure what is the invoice or markup on this price please let me know if you were successful in negotiating this.

Another question I do have a trade in, is it better trade it in at current dealer or work 2 different deals.

I am approve by BMW financing so I am assuming I will be getting the holiday promotion.

I got $2500 more from Carmax than the trade-in offer the dealer made (2009 E90 335i, just under 4k miles).

Those prices were from bmwconfig.com? They usually don't include the training or maco fees, which are costs paid by dealer to bmwusa and non-negotiable. Otherwise, yes your goal is to get invoice + $500. it should also be more advantageous to trade in at the purchasing dealer, as you get a significant tax saving on the new car purchase. ie. New X1 costs $40k, trade in is $20k, u pay tax on only $20k, which at say 8%, nets an extra $1600. As such, u need to sell it for at least $21,600 or better on a private sale or trade to 3rd party. Hope this all makes sense for u.

What are the maco fees and what do they usually run?

Maco is a regional marketing fee that dealers pay to BMW, iirc mine was $300. Ask the dealer to show it on their screen to make sure ur only paying the maco, training and nothing more.

If you have not done so, check your sales tax law on trade in credits. Some States, such as Vermont, where I live, allow a trade in credit (refund) against the new car sales tax if you sell your used car within 90 days of registering the new one; so you can get the same net tax benefit without an actual trade in.
