WTB - touring manual 2009-2012-any issues?

hello I'm looking to purchase my 1st BMW, and i'm looking for something specific.
2009-2012 BMW 3 series touring in a manual. I'm looking for some feedback for their current owners to see if they have had any issues or concerns with their vehicles, and what i should watch out for?
What are their most common issues?
Are they easily resolved?
What's maintenance like?
Can i perform my own maintenance?

any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated
Happy Driving!!!

Hello,

I have 2009 touring and it is getting close to the end of warranty. So far the front LED turning cluster was replaced during the first year. There was a recall for a battery replacement after 2 years, they put a bigger one (starts very quickly since it was done). The reliability record will be probably the same as for any 328, wagon or not.
Oil change is easy, I do it myself once a year, and the dealer does it once a year for free.
Good luck (also good luck to find one).

No issues for mine so far but Its only been two years.

No issues for mine so far but It's only been two years.
got it used with 43 k 2006.

Known issues with all N52 engines
Valve Ticking issues
Valve or Head bolt breakage , there are many thread on this.
Be aware of Run Flat issues and battery issues one of which is changing and registering.

Things to do for long term ownership
Google Mike Miller old school maintenance schedule for long term care
guidelines.
Change out all the Lifetime Fluids
Use Redline Fluids in the transmission and diffs.
Note (Redline D6 will really smooth out the shifts for the manual)

I have changed out the runflats for conti DWS big improvement in ride and quiteness.
Installed MusicaNw level 2 amp and speakers.
Recoded the windows to go up with the keyfob and the AC not to go on with
the auto button.(see coding boards)

The base stereo system is really awful
Its ampless and tweeterless.
In the US it was present only in years 2010 and early 2011
the rest of the world had it as the standard don't pay for it option for quite some time.
avoid at all costs or be prepared to modify.

Seriously. Maybe easier up north, but here in the states, I've only seen a handful of wagons. And one stick shift.

OP - we had a 2007 bought used. Had the valve ticking recall done under warranty. Otherwise no issues. It was an excellent highway and trip car. If I only had to have one vehicle, it would be a BMW 3er wagon.

It took me quite a while to find my '07 MT E91. Great car, although it has had a few electrical issues, most of which were resolved under warranty.

Currently, BMWUSA shows 30 '09~'12 wagons, but all are automatic. Good luck in your search.

I've had my '12 e91 touring 6MT for a little over a year and 10k miles. It's been the best, most versatile and enjoyable to drive car I've owned, including the 335d that preceded it. No problems to report either. Definitely a keeper! Good luck on your search---the right one will appear but be prepared to travel a bit if necessary to get it.

Graham

No, it is not better up north. Even in our crowded Toronto I see it only 2-3 times a year.
How many of them are MT? I had to order.
Many Audi wagons though...
