Sunroof/Windows Open with Key
All,
Happy to be a n ew member. Live in CT, drive a 2007 530i with sports pkg. Love the vehicle. I recently had a situation. I was sitting in a DunkinDonuts, light snow falling outside. When I went back to the vehicle, I was horrified to see sunroof and all windows WIDE OPEN! I frantically closed everything, and wiped everything down when I got home. Kept the car running with heater on high for about 20 minutes. I know the key has the feature that you could open the entire vehicle just like that. Can this feature be disabled? I hate it and now don't trust it anymore. Either I sat on the key somehow and kept the open tab pressed down,or something happened. I can't figure it out. Anyone ever have that problem? Never heard of that issue occurring; guessing you were sitting on or something was pushing down the unlock button on the key fob. If the car cannot be reprogrammed to remove the option, I would get the BMW key fob 'pouch' to prevent from occurring again in the future.

I don't know how, but I do believe the dealer can program your key so it doesn't open the windows when the button is depressed. You may want to dig into the owners manual too.
Besides your mishap, it's actually a really cool feature. On hot days I'll open everything from across a parking lot while I'm walking back to my car.

I had this problem when I first got my 08 535i. I went to the car in the morning and all 4 windows and sunroof were open. Another time my trunk was open. In both cases it was my fault when I sat down with the key in my pocket. I now put the key in a bowl and it hasn't happened since. But don't leave the fob near the front door since thiefs break into homes just to get the keys to your ride.
The fob pouch may work but I find it is very bulky so didn't buy one.

It's such a cool feature that I used a program to enable the opposite to happen.
I hold the lock button and all windows and sunroof close. It can be disabled using that program if its habit forming and water keeps entering. It is a nice feature for hot days, and almost all carmakers are offering this option. The program is NCS Expert. Search that and you'll see lots of options and features.

I have had this happen to me on every BMW I have ever owned and you just need to pray when(not if) it happens) you sustain no damage.

Also one time had the keys in my front pocket,, as a i was cleaning the wheels squating down the car kept on locking and unlocking.

Besides closing your windows and moonroof with your remote, your car can be coded to fold both outside mirrors at the same time.

In the KGM control unit set BEIKLAPPEN_B_KOMFORTSCHL to "aktiv". It requires that your car has option SA430.

Just in case some don't know, you can open and close all the windows and sunroof using the mechanical key; insert in door lock and HOLD in position to perform either operation. I do it mechanically when I want to get the windows up without turning the car on.
Obviously coding is the way to go but this is an alternative in an emergency.

As an FYI... My code options also unlock the doors when I turn the car off and ejects the key if I have it in the ignition (I have CA). I don't have the legal disclaimer on iDrive when it starts up. You will need a special cable and software called NCSExpert to do it yourself. Do some googleing on it.

There are dozens of features that can be coded to your car. Google "bmw e60 coding list" for details, and you will also find people that can remotely code if you are not the adventurous type or not inclined to invest time and effort to teach yourself. Do not know what is being charged for those services.
