Did you ever make a video of your lights with this issue? If so please post.

I have an X1 with the adaptive lights, and so far ( knock on wood), after seven months have never had jostle or bounce out of them.

I don't have a problem with the lights. They are rock solid. Looks like this light assembly was made 4/09/2012. Here is the pic for you.

I did try to make a video, but after reviewing the video, my hand holding the iphone bounces more while driving so its hard to see the issue.

The local BMW Dealership is aware and say that it is a common issue with ALL X1 with the Adaptive Headlights. (you can easily see if you pull your car up to a garage door with the lights on, and hit the top of the light with your fist. You will see the light beam bounce on the garage). But other BMW X1's I have driven or riden in do not have the issue mine has while on the road.

I have the Lighting package, which I believe means adaptive headlights and have noticed nothing like this. Love the HID's and glad to have them as is.

wanted to chime in on this old thread as I too have the vibration issue. I too don't think it should be normal yet the dealer tells me it's operating as normal too.

I have to disagree with Acura HID's being perfect though as I also had a 2007 with HID (MDX) and it vibrated a little just like the X1, but not as bad, so I learned to live with it. I figured it's the distinct light pattern that makes it more noticeable than regular halogen lights. Perhaps some people (you and I) are more sensitive to the presence of vibration. My wife doesn't notice, go figure...

Did you say you've been in other X1's with Adaptive Lights and they seem fine? If so, you need to drive the service foreman around at night with both vehicles and ask him to explain. I'd be curious to know what they say.

What is your light build date? I can check mine to see if they came from the same lot. LOL

Tolerances are pretty tight with xeon lamp assemblies. I wonder if the filament is moving ever so slightly. I noticed a little vibration with my S2000 and Venza. I have not driven my X1 recently, as I am waiting for my PCD after ED. But I believe that I saw some vibration on larger bumps when I last drove it at night. Again, it may be the nature of the beast...

UPDATE - BMW Refund

Well.... After working with the local BMW dealer (and BMW North America) I still have headlights that are NOT up to par with the quality and craftsmanship one would expect from a BMW. BMW NA admitted to knowing of the issue but have no plans to fix... Rather disapointing as Quality is one othe big things they promote... However; BMW agreed to refund the purchase price of my Lighting Package and I now feel a little better about the whole situation.. Knowing that I didnt have to spend an extra $1200 for sub par quality headlights helps.
