Is The 2013 Nav Update Worth Doing?

I did the update 2 weeks ago and noticed the routing is better in my area, also for the first time, I saw 3D buildings (City of Atlanta, GA) on my map route, never noticed it before on my 2012. There is also new roads on this update.

Is there something special I have to do to get the USB version of this working? Maybe my car is to old do this via USB. It is a 2009 328i xDrive.

It looks like the car should just see the USB drive and ask to update:

It is not doing that. I am going to try and reformat the USB stick(FAT32) and put the files back on. I am just dragging the files to the USB drive, so I don't know if there is a better way to do that or not.

Your 2009 map was made by a different company (NavTeq) which is way better than Tom Tom IMHO.

It will work for any Navigation System, and any Region. When you order your FSC Code, you must specify your Navigation System (CIC HIGH Premium), CIC - MID MOVE, or HU - Champ Motion, and your Map region (Europe, North America, Arabian Gulf, China, etc.).

If you have 609 Navigation, you have CIC HIGH Premium.

At some point in the cars life I will want to get newer maps.

There is no way that 2009 Map Data from Tele Atlas 4 years ago is better than 2013 Map Data from TomTom.

TomTom now owns TeleAtlas anyway, so it's the same data.

I don't think that you can't change map companies. I had a 2009 E90 and I had the same dilemma. My SA told me that NavTeq was better that TeleAtlas anyway but since my system had the NavTeq maps I had to do the maps upgrade with the same company.

The maps provided here are from Tom Tom, It should work fine with our F10's but I'm not really sure that it will work on a 2009 E90.

Maybe someone that had the experience can give you a definite answer.

If he has a CIC system, his E90 uses the same maps as an F10 with CIC.

The new 2013 models with NBT (new iDrive) use a different version though with twice the data.

Sorry, I meant NavTeq.

In 2009 when I had my E90 the navigation recognized my home address in Cali. When I bought my F10 in 2011 the navigation didn't recognized my address and it showed a blank area in my community.

I also saw the same complaint from different members on the forum that I was a member off.
