Has anyone tried this on a car with DVD-in-motion hack? I copied the (folder + file) to the root directory of a 32GB USB stick (formatted as FAT32), inserted in glove box and nothing happened. I started the car and waited for 10 mins still nothing popped up on the screen
Any ideas?

Ok. Well the SPEEDLOCK Min and Max FDL Changes made by the DVD-In-Motion DVD have no impact on the Navigation Update, so something else is wrong.

I would FAT32 Format the Thumb Drive, and copy the single file and folder to the root of it, and try the update again.

Incidentally, what is your current Map Version?

Installed the update yesterday. The only problem was with my slow ISP (Hughesnet) and their Fair Access Policy. Was able to download during night hours when the limit is higher but still took me 4 nights to download all 23 parts. After that the install was a breeze. Thanks much for the easy to follow instructions Shawn! I'll be testing it today to see if some new local roads made it since the 2011 maps.

Yes, thanks to Shawn.

I installed the new 2013 database a few days ago. It is definitely an improvement over the 2012 version. For example, with 2012, it wanted to send me 187 miles to get to a town only 40 miles away with decades-long existing 4-lane roads on the correct route; the new database is now correct. Furthermore, the 2012 version wanted to send me from town to home on several dirt roads that haven't existed for at least 40 years and are now hard-to-find ruts plus driving through steep and very sandy arroyos. The 2013 version keeps me on existing and paved roads - but not the shortest route.

However, in initial testing of 2013, there are still some problems with the algorithm (or perhaps database?). For example (and I've found a few more but so far this is the worst) I can literally see a destination 1/2 mile away but the route chosen (using all options including shortest) was a long 6.8 mile loop including about 200 feet of a dirt road.

There are a few more examples where the shortest route is definitely not the shortest - but at least the roads are passable versus some of the chosen roads in the 2012 version.

So even though 2013 is better, there's still work to be done. I don't know for a fact if it's the database or the route algorithm or who's got the action: BMW or TomTom - they continue to point the finger at each other.
