(a) no cold weather package, but all of that other fluff, on a car in Boston?? Wow. Speechless. (b) you might want to rethink $5k-$7k down on a lease. (c) have you tried calculating a lease using the rates and residuals listed on here? Using your numbers, I see a payment of about $590 per month with MA tax assuming you pay just fees down. Each extra $1000 down reduces the payment about $30/month.

You may want to find out how the sell price was arrived. Make sure that you are getting the $1,000 Holiday Credit.
Also, I suggest that you get familiarized on how the lease figure is calculated. Having a thorough understanding of the calculation can be very helpful |

Moreover I garage my car, and don't street park, so don't see a need really, at least for me and my wife. Thanks again! PS: I was given a quote at 399/month with 5-6k down from a bmw dealer for a 48k asking price (51-52k MSRP). 328i xdrive sport line fully loaded (without cold weather package). Here are the approximate figures I worked out with a dealer 1. MSRP 52k, Invoiced at - 48k - dealer given 2. Residual after 39 months - 26k - dealer given Lease coverage: 3. Amount to cover 39 months - 48k-26k = 22k 4. Amount covered by monthly payments - 399*39=15561 5. Down Payment Calculation (Amount left to cover 39 months residual after monthly pays) 3-4 = 6439 . Actual 5439 (after $1000 Holiday Credit) (My Offer 5-7.5k that should cover all fees and taxes, etc.) This is an aggressive deal.

419 at BMWUSA.com's At leaseguide's , I did 1% interest rate and got 400/month (a dealer also gave me a final deal offer of 399/month with 7.5k down). The dealers tell me the invoice is 48k, which matches and is under online invoice calculators, but they don't tell me how much below that they're going. They just say "We're giving you a price under invoice" Thanks again Sarafil! |

First, DO NOT put that much down on a lease. Pay the tax title registration and maybe the acq fee and other fees up front but do not put a giant cap reduction on a lease. You lose that money if anything happens to the car.
Also if you have that cash available use it to put down MAX multiple security deposits (7). Each one will reduce the money factor (interest rate on a lease) by .00007 for a max reduction of .00049 The current money factor is .00125 i believe. it may be .00130 as well. I forget which one is on which model. Assuming you pay all fees up front use the following calculation: ((Selling price-residual)/term) + ((selling price + residual)*money factor) to get a more accurate monthly payment before tax The only reason you should ever put any money as a down payment on a lease is to reduce the payment below a $50 marker to reduce your MSDS. Hope this helps some.
