Auto or manual? In my 92 325i (Getrag 5 speed) I went to Redline MTL and I love it. Not sure what it had in it before though.

Also, search around a bit. There's a lot of threads on what trans fluids people use.

BMW used different fluid types depending on model year, so you'll have to get underneath the car and look. There will be a sticker on the transmission housing which should be easy to find.

It says ATF but I didn't get to check and see other stuff. Do I need to use a pump to put it in or can I just use a funnel?

You'll need a fluid pump. They cost about $5-10 at an auto parts store, and screw directly onto the trans fluid bottle to make things very easy. Funnel won't work at all in that location.

Also, you'll probably need a breaker bar to get the drain & fill plugs out. Mine was certainly on there really good, and took all of my effort and a 33" breaker bar to get loose. Never would've been possible without it. Otherwise, it's a super easy job.

Good grief.

Ask the auto parts store where you buy the fluid if they'll loan you a pump.

Just get the pump. I changed my transmission fluid with a funnel and it was the biggest in the ass.

Dude won't buy a $7.00 fluid pump.... Okay, we cannot help you then.

About as easy as putting a lid on a soda bottle. Easy enough? It does require that you be physically able to push the pump down with your hand repeatedly, however.

How are you going to buy the ATF fluid if you can't afford the pump?

Grandmommy loves me. I already owe her an my parents money. I just need to borrow one but I don't know of anyone who has. My grandma got universal ATF fluid at the hardware store auto parts section. Is that ok?

Depends on how long you want your transmission and BMW. We all love ours, so we use the best of the best in every category. But at this point would you go get something else if we told you to?

Make sure you remove the fill plug before you remove the drain plug!

It much easier to ask people that already know than google and spend a shot ton of time looking an not know if it's correct

You do realize that by asking everyone simple questions which all the info already exists for, you are simply making everyone else take the time to respond to your questions. In effect, multiple people have to put forth effort rather than just one person. There are countless DIY tutorials for transmission fluid changes online. Just gotta search for it.
