omg... this car is incredible. after owning a 03 m3, 04 e55, and 05 645ci this is rediculous

Tell me more about that - is the engine truly a gem? I am on the hunt for a AW 2010 M5 - but as of yet have not driven one. When I see and hear them - the engine sounds somewhat ordinary. I know this is the conservative nature of the exhaust - but is the engine a monster? seems that I hear some suggest one needs to rev it very high to make it feel fast. Does this become a chore?

Its a small (relatively) displacement V10 that revs past 8,000 rpm. Its not a low rpm torque monster but it feels very fast when you can hold a gear all the way up past 8k. Its the exact equivalent of adding 25% to the current model M3 power plant.
You don't have to string it out in every gear to make it fun during ordinary driving, but I bet you'll find yourself shifting between 4-5k on a normal basis, which seems ubsurd and doesn't do any favors to your mpg. I would also love an AW '10 (newer idrive) but finding a non-smg one is not much fun if I could call up the used car factory and have one made it would be easier. I've test driven a couple smg's and just don't think I could ever get comfortable with it, much less feel comfortable with my wife driving it and not hating me every time she got behind the wheel. I just traded up from an 02 M3 to a 2010 M5 and I am absolutely in love with this car.

I would buy another 06 m5 SMG instantly just to keep Willow company . I want also thank the previous owner for have the custom Dinan exaust increased the size of the tail pipes . Great unique sound too

The 10 M5 is pretty handy for a dd.
Not a track star, ut an overall great car.

Wow looks good! Currently own an 02 745i been think of jumping on m5 band wagon but idk! You guys know if these cars are as problematic as 8's?
