Is Tan interior highly wanted?

Im about to buy my 3 series in the next week if not next couple days and I've found a few that I want with black interior but if I decide on tan interior it doubles the amount of cars I can make offers on. I like tan interior but I'm leaning towards staying with black because I think when it's time to sell it Ill get a wider range of people interested versus the tan interior.
So out of all you on here who wouldn't get tan interior and only black?

I look only for tan interior when buying used. I think there's a pretty good market for that so get what you like.

You lean in the same direction as I do.

I would never get tan. It looks unattractive to me and shows every spec of dirt.

I don't like tan - too much tan in the car, but dealers order tan in most of their cars except black cars.

You will probably run into like 70% of the cars as tan.

Tan looks great for the first month or so

Dealera like tan as it sells cars then has the same car looking old and dirty soon after

We have two BMWs (X3, 335xi). The X3 is blue/grey, the 335xi is grey/jade grey. Black gains too much heat, tan does not go with the exterior colors chosen.

I have a black interior on a convertible. I find it interesting that the black does not get hot to the touch like I would have thought. Someone had posted last year that BMW uses some sort of a finish on the leather that reflects the heat. I didn't believe it at first but do now, as my interior stays warm and not hot, even in the Florida sun where the car now resides.

I'm not sure if this is only true for convertibles or for all BMWs?

IMO, BMW black interiors are gloomy.

I like the beige a lot though. And, yeah, it will show some forms of dirt more easily. However, its not hard to maintain.

Interior color will have a negligible effect on the audience for resale. Don't limit your choices based on resale concerns. Buy what you like.

I have kids so the darker the better . I prefer Black then Gray and finally Tan.

Sorry, just had to chuckle a little. You don't even have the car yet and already you're planning on getting rid of it.

Mine's tan and I still don't regret my decision 4 years later.

I live in Florida and a black interior is stupid as hell. Have had them before and they suck period! Try getting in a convertible in Florida sun and not burn your ass.
BMW has nano impregnated particles to reflect most of the heat build up in my tan interior.
I also can accept light gray but for convertibles it makes no sense in a super hot sunny environment...

Had it once never went back..Too much upkeep and after awhile grew tiresome but everyone has different taste so...

I think it's just for the verts. It's called Sun Reflective Technology, and I see while googling around, that someone says it uses a "mixed metal oxide", and the first thing I wonder is how similar the stuff is to metallic window tint (which has the highest reflectivity among the competing techs). I also see an article stating that it was first used in BMW motorcycle jackets. Coincidentally, I just started reading Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt last night (and read a lot of it first sitting, he is so damn funny), and the first two pics of ch 1, and in other pics interspersed, he is wearing a BMW jacket with a huge roundel on the left arm. He chose a beamer for the Mississippi River run.

I think the first time I came across SRT was looking through Kat's posts regarding the Euro split armrest mod, and I cannot recall at all if SRT is an option and/or is standard with that piece. (I'm currently happy with my armrest, but then again it's probably because I don't know any better.)

More on topic, choosing leather color based on resale is totally silly in my book. I've got Saddle, and I totally dig it. If I had custom ordered one via ED or whatever, I could see going with Oyster, depending on the exterior color chosen, if a darker blue, then definitely.

I like tan leather best. It does take a little extra effort to keep it clean, but to me the effort is worth it, N4S

Well yea, how many people go out there and say buy an atomic orange corvette and then 2yrs later when they try to sell it then find out they got a color that is hard to re-sell.
I always think about re-sell on anything I buy.
Take the people who buy that ugly metallic green camaro they are going to have a hard time trying to find the right person who wants that color AND THEN try and get what they want for it from that person.

If Im going for the white exterior with black wheels or red exterior with black wheels I just think tan interior going with the white/black, red/black exterior combo may throw the theme off alil? I dunno

If only 2 years, why not just lease then? Get what you want, and no worry over resale.

Now you're exaggerating. Some greens are nice, but let's say it's an ugly green. That is much much much much more rare than the millions of cars that have either black/white/beige seats.

It's all personal. It looks like there is a current thread regarding the idea of plastidipping (is that how you say it) the wheels, it is not permanent. If wheel color is such a big decision for you. I don't like black wheels myself, but there are a million people around me who apparently like them.

I think the tan interior on most BMWs looks cheap. Other than the red (although I can understand why some would like it) the tan would be my last choice on a 3er.

I would have to agree about the tan on a 3er sedan. My boss has an '11 E90 with a tan interior. Even though it has the premium pkg and sport pkg, the interior still looks very plasticky. If I were going light, I'd opt for the oyster with the black as it's a much richer look. Living here in Texas I doubt I'd go for black even with the SRT leather. And BTW for cabrio owners, the darker the leather the more effective SRT is. There was a display at The Welt in 2010 that demonstrated SRT using black leather and a heat lamp and an IR thermal readout . It's really amazing technology.

I never worry about selling to the next person.

Take good enough care of it, be patient and eventually you'll find a match.

I think black wheels will cause you more resell issues than tan leather.

How come? A white or red 328 with black M6 wheels looks badass. I have a red vette and because of my red and black wheel with the rear painted black everyone loves it.

No kidding! OP, get what you like. Who cares what we or anyone else likes? It's (will be) your car.

I've always gone for grey leather, and will probably continue to do so - eyes of the beholder.
