N63 Stage 1 Beta

Think I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on this one. It's 'only' 4 bills and good for an upgrade to Stage 2 when they get it ready.

Anyone have experience with them? Been talking to Jeff and he has been very responsive and patient with all my stupid questions.

I'd be cautious to add with your warranty and not a lot of HP/TQ gain.

Why not wait for the BMW warranty approved Dinan II that should be available next Spring for the 2013 engine?

True.
This seems to imply that it removes "without a trace". I dunno, the warranty is not much of an issue for me though as I drive 40-50K miles/year for business so it'll be up well before most others.

I didn't think 20hp and 40 lb/ft to the wheels (approx 30-35hp at crank) was bad considering the cost....an intake would go for that much with 1/2 the hp (usually). Still will do the Dinan as soon as it's ready.

I'm coming from a modified, '08 600 hp Z06 (I know, different worlds ) so while I do love the N63, it isn't quite at the level of the Z. Of course it beats the living hell out of it in every other area!

Those numbers are for the older N63 engine because don't the 2013 650i have the revised motor with 445hp and 480 twq?

Just to clear things up A member DYNO'd his DINAN STAGE 2 on a 550i and got 411 whp to the wheels .

BMS is claiming the same . Don't forget these guys are know for the 100 whp tunes on the 335i so what makes you think we won't be up there soon . It's two plugs warrant will never know !

You know, I'm confused now. I know the Gran Coupe got the HP bump to 445 for the 2013 model year, but I keep hearing conflicting reports about the 2013/F13 "real" coupe (2 door - mine). I have no idea if I'm putting out 400-ish or 450-ish.

Well, I went straight to the horses mouth. Per the bmwusa site, the 2013 'real' coupe (2 door) does indeed get 445hp for 2013. Assuming about a 15% drivetrain loss, I'm guessing it's the graph from the 2013 (445*.85 = 378.5hp). Sound about right?

Common sense would tell you, being that the new 2013 N63 motor has only been out for 3 months I think this set up is for the 2012 engine. There's no statement whether this is for the 12 or 13 engine and one size doesn't fit all. And Dinan is currently working on their Stage II for the 2013 engine.

I just Confirmed with Terry@BMS that this also works with the new N63 motor aswell..

BMW notoriously underrates their engines. The outgoing N63 regularly dynos at 380-390 rwhp even though the claimed output is 400hp. The new N63 will probably dyno at 425-435 rwhp if the same percentages hold true...

Good stuff. I'm still on the fence. May wait until spring and see what the Dinan tune puts down on the '13.
