325i Windshield/Mirror Replacement/Alarm

Ive tried to search for the answer that helps me, now Im posting this .. Its been about 2 years since the 325 has been a victim of vandals and Ive had to replace the windshield and rear view mirror. The car no longer flashes its lights when the alarm is set and Im almost positive it did before this happened. I was wondering if the mirror was related to this problem. I bought a used mirror so Im having doubts that its working properly. The clown nose has NEVER blinked to my recollection. I didnt even know it was supposed to blink till I joined this site. (Bought this car Used) Anyways, Since Ive bought my M3 my wife has been harping on me to get the lights to blink on the 325 when the alarm set and unset. Does anyone have some useful input to my problem without me spending money on another mirror? Also I dont recall any alarm beeps, sorry the wife drives this car most of the time. Thanks

You need to have it reprogrammed, either by a dealer, or an enthusiast with the proper software.

Thats pretty straightforward Bob, And I guess there is still no gaurantee that will be the fix... lights, tone and clown nose... ? Thanks for the reply

If all else is in good order, it will work. What we don't know is if you have anything else not working properly.
When I had some body work done and my mirror was removed, it would not work after all was put back together. Turns out there was a dealer only software update that had to be done. Body shop took it to a dealer and problem fixed.
From that I learned that the mirrors are linked side to side and the system is not a simple one.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Fast. As far as I know everything else is working/responding like it should. Im dead in the water till I gain some extra cash or meet someone that can help me.
