Any Experience with "The Specialists" clear bra?

I have done a lot of reading tonight on paint protection. This forum is the best! I know the dealer will offer permaplate (NO), Extended Warranty (NO), Extended Service (Undecided), Tire and Wheel warranty (undecided), and tinting. Herein lies my question.

I live in AZ, where there is a lot of gravel trucks and dust/sand. I'm thinking clear film. There is a highly regarded firm here in Tucson called The Specialists, and they offer Suntek self healing solar max Clear Shield bras or "clear shield".

My question:
1) It seems like this would be a good product to add to my car when I receive it. Is the current conventional wisdom that this is a good thing to purchase?
2) is Suntek or clear shield better?
3) What should I ask the installer so that I can ensure he/she knows WTF they are doing?
4) Anybody have any experience (good or bad) with The Specialists?

Thanks in advance

Hi Robert. Though we mostly live in NM, we have a home in Tucson as well. I've been using the Specialists near Auto Mall for years. They've been basically handling Formula 1 Pinnicle Ceremic Tint on several ofour cars, including 3 of our 4 BMWs, and will be doing replacemetn tint on my wifes recent car, a 2010 535xi bought in Albuquerque last month when she gets back to Tucson mid-January.

Rich and Luis have done all our work and they know tint for certain - at the least.

Regarding Clear Film paint protection, I can't speak to that done by The Specialists.

However, I have seen some here in NM that was crap or poorly installed. In 2006, I opted for Armor Coat paint protection on my Cad DTS. I am very happy with it and am having it sprayed on my 2008 535i this week - car is already at the shop. Further, once my wife gets back home in February, we're having the front of her car done as well.

That Clear Film I've seen here was crap in that it didn't do a very good job protecting the paint. Now it may not be the same stuff that the guys in Tucson carry but the film I'm seen doesn't do anywhere near the job the Armor Coat does.

Just my opinion.

Thanks, Steve. Lots of good input on the tint from The Specialists. I got a combined quote on the film with the tint that seems pretty reasonable. They are using "suntek" film and have for the past three years. Their shop car has it on there (3 years) and looks pretty good. I hadn't heard of the Armor Coat - is there someplace local that uses that film? Nothing in search shows up.

In Tucson, The Specialists ae the only ones I know of that offer the plastic film.

Regarding tint: Tucson - Forumla One Pinnacle combo 35/15 ceremic tint. Having significant experience with ceremic tint, I can tell you from experience in AZ and NM summer temps, you don't want normal window film. Hit this link.

Luis quote: $259.15 - one day notice for a 5 series BMW.

You might consider either calling Armor Coat or using the email contact on their site http://www.armorcoatusa.com/contact_us.html for more information and the names of their certified installers. Note that this is NOT film, it's a paint process. It is not inexpensive to have it applied. However, this actually works.

Disclaimer: I have no interest in any of the products or companies here - just a very satisfied customer.
