That gasket was like plastic stuck inside the slot for it. had to heat it up and use a nice pick to get it out, then i had to clean it all up with a wire brush.
So my bet is my pipe that goes under the manifold to those valves are brittle also... Come to think of it the old Y pipe CCV hose cracked when i tried to remove them when i did my driver side VCG so i might as well just buy a new one lol

But you did coolant pipe job, right??
Why didn't you clean air passages at the same time??

Yes you can remove those valves, but you need some skills and patience. But!!! Once it's removed you gotta be really carefull not to brake that 80$ Y pipe bc it's brittle most of the times. Anyhow you remove 2 nuts from each head, move that valve, stick that brush wire and pour some nice solvents!!!
Done!!!
But, definitely much better with intake removed.
250$ saved don't worry it will work.
If you feel air from exhaust you're good
Btw how do you know if your Y pipe is intact??? Very common it just brakes, cracks, and you have a leak, so not necessary your ports are clogged.

My pipe is broken, and I paid $60 for a new one.. I do have to take off the intake to replace that right?

Exactly what I'm going to do.. going to go with the AGA pipe in a week or two.. Will hope and pray my rear plate isn't bad but I am sure it will be..

Jees i wish i get like 12 in my city. Ive just always thought crappy gas or the fact there is a stop sign or lights at every intersection.

Oh so it's okay I remember seeing 18-19mpg but I'm definitely driving it really hard.... Mine is LI btw.
Also replaced rubber boot from tb to maf, they have redesigned it, and I think it seals better, so it revs nicer

Hey SF, any news on the tstats? Also, how hard was it to drop your trans? I am wondering if I can do myself and replace that plate..

Yeah I need to contact them, but it hasn't been 2 months yet.
Before removing tranny check for any signs of leaks between tranny and engine.

I talked to AGA again and they told me that the rear plate hardly ever leaks. They said, they have seen about 2-3 in the last 200 E65's.. He said it's much more likely to be the cooling pipe/valley pan. Today my temp went up to 110c. But I was messing with the coolant mixture again, so I will have to go back to the last mixture.

And it's not summer yet.

Once again you listen to aga folks who say if no leak no pipe problem, right??
But it is, remove your wp and dry the pipe inside and you'll see water coming out from the cooling pipe, which only means its coming from valley pan, bc it full and you cannot drain it lower than those water channels. This leak at high temp will greatly reduce water pressure- therefore valley pan return won't be able to open tstat.

Hey cmpcpro what mix were you using at 110c.Ive found 60 water 40 antifreeze is working great for me.Temps here have been down to single digits up to 70f and my engine temps have worked our well.Yep here in Ky we have wild climate changes sometimes day to day.I also took engine cover off after reading e46 guys do this a lot.Dosnt really bring coolant temps down but they say it lowered oil temps by 10 to 20.

The 110 only hits after about thirty minutes of bumper to bumper traffic and then stopping completely as soon as I move it goes away and it just started adding more coolant so will drop down my mixture. I agree I know as soon as I change my pipe this will most likely vanish.. Just spent $700 on the front struts so will have to wait a week or two for pipe but am going to put at top of my list. As for my mixture I am now about 50 50 again so below that has been better every time

Has any member here tried the "Evans Coolant" and if so what has been there results, real world. Just asking cause it looks interesting.

Not yet, I have been wanting to try it but I don't know how to get ALL the water out of this system.. with the water cooled alternator, aux pump, etc.

Drain the block the rad and flush with the Evans prep. As long as you get under 15% iirc from their website, you should be good. Comes with test strips i believe; to see. Or you can empty some again after filling to dilute and refill but with Evans that will get costly.

And what?? Will it fix the leak???
Read about Evans crp and you'll find out that it keeps your engine hotter than regular coolant. No pressure, but cooling sucks

i wasnt suggesting it would fix the leak, was just explaining what to do is all if he wanted to try it....

It wont matter to me either way. I think my insurance is going to total my car by the way the adjuster was talking to me about the car... and if they dont Im going to sell it because i definitely dont want one of these after an accident going 60mph and spinning. Nemo got me
