Fluid loss in steering or suspension hydraulkic system.

Hello Bimmerfest;

I was wondering if any one knows how to manually check the level of the steering or hydraulic suspension system on a 06' 750Li (E66). I bought the car with this problem of receiving an error message of "fluid loss in steering or suspension hydraulic system" had it serviced after buying and it was not observed in their report. usually it only appears the first time I start the car and then disappears after stopping and starting again and does not reoccur. Lately, with cooler (0-5 C) temperatures it seems to be coming up more frequently and dissapating at a later stage of engine running. I am thinking it has to do with either the sensor, or a minimal amount of fluid even at max in the resevoir and with coller temperatures expansion and contraction of the fluid activating the sensor? Any help will be much appreciated. see pics. No observed degration in steering or suspension while driving. Many thanks.

Buy some hydrollic fluid at dealer and top it up in the hydrollic fluid / power steering resevour on drivers side . And see if it comes back may have a leak ir may just be below minimum capacity.

Recharge battery means weak battery.. when was the last time the battery was replaced?

thanks. yeah the battery part is no problem. @johdade is the resivoir for steering/hyd. fluid the one drivers side of the engine block highlighted in the picture? it is not identified in the owners manual. Thanks.

I had the same problem two days ago. I stopped at my local dealer and they topped up my steering fluid with Pentosin CHF11 fluid out of a green bottle.

They said that in colder climates, the fluid levels can contract a bit. Or i have a leak which i need to be on the lookout for.

is yours vehicle the same year and model?

Check the fluid level! If it's at the MAX line then it may be an issue with the sensor or the wires going to the car from the sensor (rat may have chewed on them). If the fluid is low at ALL, top it up to the MAX line.

Thanks to all. Pentosin CHF 11 S is the stuff. Yes from the green bottle for $30. I only needed about a cup or two worth's.
