Ac fan problem

Okay I wrecked my car at the beginning of October and I'm almost done putting it back together but I was wondering if it is absolutely necessary to have the Ac fan on there. I pulled one from a junkyard but it was from a 93 325i an I have a 96 328is so the mounting points are in different spots. Any help would be great

The aux fan is the backup in case your belt driven fan fails or can't keep up with the cooling. You don't have to have one but you're taking on more risk of an overheat.
Also,as you probably already know your AC (if you have it) won't cool well without the aux fan.
