Electrical Gremlins ???

I have a 95 E36 318is automatic with 138k. Every now and then the interior lights flash on/off. When this happens the windows sometime bring themselves down a couple inches or sometimes they don't work at all. Also when they are up and this is going on they won't lower the half inch to properly seal the doors causing the doors to not close properly. Starting to get very irritating scoured the forums and have found nothing on this. Need help.

Sounds like you have a defective door switch.

that's what it sounds like to me. i'd start with the driver side door as it tends to be the one that is used the most.

Going to have to suffer with it work late and snow tomorrow so chances of junkyard being open at all are razor thin. Not shelving out 50 dollars per switch. Selling car in Feb don't want to keep throwing money into it. I loved the E36 until I owned on. My old E39 may she rest in piece felt like a tank compared to my E36.

And it drove like a tank by comparison, too.

Not at all amazingly agile for its size. Not as go-kart like in the turns as my 318is but with her style 5 BBS wheels and that roomy interior ahhhhh.....

door striker might need to be adjusted/replaced. normally they get messed up from a seat belt getting caught up in the door. could be a switch as others said too
