DSP NAV Issue

I have a 2002 540 IT. First the NAV (reconditioned Mark IV) began malfunctioning. Then a few months later the Radio starting cutting out after about three to five minutes and the NAV screen has no display. In the trunk, when I disconnect and connect the 40 PIN Connector to the radio (silver box) the sound comes back for three more minutes. I am not quite sure if the radio or the amplifier is bad. I bought an after market head unit but I could not fish the wiring harness to the head unit from the drivers side. Two questions; 1) Is my amp or radio bad? If I use the aftermarket radio, should I try running the wiring harness from the rear of the car along the passenger side and behind the glove box to the head unit?

Thanks. Did the new Nav also resolve the radio issue and the black screen? Where did you obtain a replacement DVD NAV unit?

Thanks. You were correct. A few years ago I upgraded my Mark III to the Mark IV I purchased from Bimmernav. After your post, I re-installed my Mark III and all is working again. I guess Bimmernav sold me a bad unit. Now I just need to find updated CDs for my old Mark III.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
