DISA valve from Dorman?
Has anyone used the DISA valve made by Dorman? I see much lower prices for them. The lowest I've seen for OEM is almost $300. Just wondering if anyone likes or dislikes the Dorman version, about $100 cheaper than OEM. I've been getting the P0171 and P0174 codes. I have the cold weather CVV ordered and thought I might replace the DISA at the same time. I'm not completely sure that it's bad, but I'm price shopping while I wait for the CVV and disassemble.

A friend of mine who is a BMW Tech heard my Disa Valve making noise the other day and suggested I change it in case the pivot pin was going to fall out. He could get me the BMW part for about $230 but told me to get the Vaico one from Pelicanparts.com it cost 191. Not sure if it is for your application, I have a Z4. Check it out though. He didn't give me the impression that the off brand was a problem so the Dorman may be just as good too.

Thanks. It's strange, but that part is not listed if you go through the Z3 heading. I looked under Z4 and there it was, and in the applications it does show the Z3 3.0 M54. Unfortunately it's out of stock now.
I found the Dorman on Amazon for $111; it's $200 at some other places, so I went ahead and ordered it. Thanks for the heads up on the other one though. Last edited by JackDuggan; 01-03-2013 at 12:34 PM. Reason: part out of stock |

I put the G.A.S. DISA Gold valve onto my M54-equipped E46. Incredible product...

Dorman DISA valve arrived
I got the Dorman DISA valve today. I think it was about $110 on Amazon. It looks just like the one I took off, but it is marked "Made in China".
I think now I should have just bought a gasket to be able to put the old one back on. I was doing the CVV thing and it seemed easier to do that with the DISA removed; and I figured that with 93k miles it was time for a new one. Actually the CVV was remarkably clean too. Not at all brittle like I see in the videos about them. I put on the winter model though and replaced the lines. Hopefully my codes won't come back. I am thinking now that it is possible that the DISA O-ring had a little vacuum leak. |
