Question E39 lost all memory settings

hi,
2 questions
1. my e39 (2003) has a problem of something remains on (keeps making a low volume chucking sound after turning off ignition, actually it starts after few mins). this causes battery drain. any idea as what that could be?
2. recently i left it in my garage for over 5 weeks untouched and that completely drained battery. it took long charging time to jump start it. but more weired part is it lost all memory. i see following symptoms
a. remotes not recognized - i reprogrammed these
b. one touch window up/down doesn't work
c. during reverse, passenger side mirror folds down in both positions of the mirror adjustment selection switch
d. driver side lock doesn't work central locking
i called nearby bmw service center, but they say that battery drain shouldn't cause these issues. but its hard to imagine that all these problems coincidentally happened together with battery drain specially a, b, c
has anyone had a similar issue or any ideas as what could cause this behavior
Thx,

Electrics in these cars are weird. The first time I tried to reset my service light interval I shorted the diagnostic plug. This caused the auto up and down on the windows, lock button, mirror auto down, and horn to quit working. I would start checking fuses. Even try swapping ones that appear to be ok, but might be related. I know not a lot of help, but battery drain might erase radio presets and seat positions. Also might have hurt the battery.

Any more info on the noise?
