Angel Eyes installation help

So I have read many topics on this and still can't get my new bulbs on. I have huge hands and basically they will not fit down the small area to install them. I grab my son with small hands and we cannot seem to put on the new bulb. Keeps turning and never becomes tight or locks into place. Is this an issue with the new bulb? The old one was easy to twist back on. Should I continue to remove the bumper? I have a 2005 645ci coupe

i had the same problem with aftermarket bulbs, ended up returning them, i figure if it's not even good enough to lock there will probably be moisture getting in and i didn't want that

the trick is that the wire that goes into the blac kand red adaptor must be installed after you put and half turn the module.
if you install the small wire harness it locks the adaptor and thats probably why you can't put it on.but i must admit they are a bitch to install,i had my headlight out and still had a hell of a time to figure it out at first

I bought my upgrades off of Amazon and they fit like a charm. Scraped my hand up a bit but was able to do it. I noticed it helped to take out the cover for the DLRs to give room for a hand to fit and see better.

I don't have the link because it's on the app on my phone but this is the title of the item "iJDMTOY 7000K Xenon White 5W High Power LED Angel Eyes Bulbs for BMW 5 6 7 Series X3 X5"

It shipped quickly and the seller iJDMTOY seems very responsive too.

Post pics if you do the upgrade. Best of luck.

I'll try and take a picture today. It's the first semi nice day we're having in the DC area so I'll take advantage of that.

If it's anything like E9x models, you line the bulb tabs up with the housing, then use needle nose pliers to twist the bulb.

Most aftermarket bulbs do not lock into place and keep spinning.

If you look at the tabs on the bulb and the opening, you'll see you only need to turn the bulb about 90 degrees for the tabs to secure the bulb. The seal should put enough tension on the tabs to prevent the bulb from rotating out.

I actually had mine click in with the quarter turn just like the original bulb did. I will say it's easier for me with my hand than tools, but that's because I was actually able to fit my hand in after removing the cover for the DRLs.

OK, I give and plead ignorant, what are you referring to re "DLR's"? I cannot get my hand in the opening and still maneuver the bulb, is removing the hood catch more of a problem than it's worth?

Thanks

Thanks

The DLR's are the daytime running lights, these are also your high beam. The angel eye bulb and DLR bulbs are two different ones. The DLR bulb is inside a plastic housing with an access cover that can be easily removed. The angel eye, also known as the parking bulb for BMW, are below the plastic housing.

I don't know that removing the hood latch will help you as the opening for these bulbs are on the left and right edges.

I suggest getting a helper with smaller hands. I was able to do it (with minor scrapes to my hand) pretty easily.

Hope it helps.

Thank you very much for the info. I easily changed the bulbs on my X5, but was apparently looking in the wrong place on the M6.

Thanks again!!
