Winter Tire Question

Had our first snow of the season today and my 1st time out in my '12 535xi M Sport. The Goodyear all seasons didn't impress me so I think I'll order up 4 snows. Had Michelin Alpine PA2s on my E92 335xi and they were fantastic. Any recommendations from the F10 crowd? I have 18" winter wheels left over from my E92 so ill use them. So I need an 18" winter tire. Was leaning toward the Pirellis since they are still V rated.

I had PA3s on my F10, but there wasn't much snow last year. Do you know the widths and offsets on your 18" rims?

Went with the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 in a 17" rim on the recommendation from Tire Rack and couldn't be happier. Tested them out yesterday in about 8" of snow and had no problem going uphill, etc. with a rear wheel drive 550i stick shift. These are not run flats so got a Slime kit for emergencies and also got the TPMS for the new rims. They have a 130 mph rating but are not high performance tires but am more than satisfied to give up some performance for winter time security.

^+1. You can also always go for a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS70. I have them on my S550 and the car drives like a tank through 8-10 inches of fresh snow, 4-6 inches of packed snow and ice.

Have the PA3s on 18" wheels and got caught in the first blizzard of the year in Cleveland. Even after salting so that 4-6" was slushy and slickery, there was no hesitating in starting or stopping. Wanted to know how they would have done on the driveway with an 11 degree slope up into the garage, but the neighbors had it cleared by the time we got back home. Oh well, next time.

My winter wheels and tires are BMW Style 351 18" non-offset wheels and Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires. They are awesome.

Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 on my 2013 535iX. Work great in the snow and handle well on dry roads too. The plus over A/S tires is the Blizzaks still work great when cold. They don't get as hard as the A/S tires.....
