E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

Getting a 318iS any suggestions?
I will be getting a 91 318iS from a shop where i live the guy has always owned a E30 and is a really good guy. Well what im wanting to do is i herd that this is knows as the Baby M3. Well I want to maximize the performance of the M42. When i have the cash ill get a S14 and throw that in there but that's in a few years.
What i want to do is: - MAF conversion ( cant find much on this i have a M20 and that seems a lot easier to find info on than the M42 ) - Shift/E-brake boot black with tri-color Motorsport stripe stitching $180.00 http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/ultrasuede/ - COP Kit - M42 Plate, & Installation Hardware (no coils) http://www.hqautosport.com/products1.html Bavarian Autosport High-Performance Ignition Coil Set - Set of 4 - UUC Evo3 Shifter - Fuel revamp - 19Lbs injectors http://www.precisionautoinjectors.co...02?productId=1 markD91 chip http://www3.sympatico.ca/mdsylva/products.htm - BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution real leather front center console - E30 Quick Ratio Steering Kit ST-3 - EVO3 Steering Wheel for E30 – Alcantara Suede - Supersprint exhaust manifold - BMW E36 Vader seats - BMP Multi-throttle intake - VAC - M40, M42, M44 Lightweight Race Flywheel & Clutch Kit - Head work - - Schrick Cam shafts 256/256 - M42 High Performance Valve Spring & Retainer kit (48 pcs) Titanium - VAC - M42 / M44 High Performance Valve Guide - VAC - M42 High Performance Stainless Valve Kit [7mm Valve Stem] (16pcs) And what would a 2.1L stoker do to this car? and what ever elts you may suggest ill think about. so anyhoo any suggestions? Dunno about stroker but 'fast road' cam and free flow exhaust can work wonders. Decent headers also can give gains. Insp 2 serice plus whel alignment and tune up and see exactly what you have B 4 spending lots of folding.

well I know what i want to do with this car. I do want to eventually have it a high revving engine. I have been doing some research on the stroker and its not a easy thing to do. the crank is a pain in the ass to get cause it comes from a M47 i guess an engine BMW made for Land Rover. So thats not high on my list lol but i would like to completely revamp the heads. Polish, Porting, Over-sized valves, i mean the works. then move to the bottom end and that will be the stroker. I would just transplant a S14 and tweak that but i rather destroy a M42 that a S14.im willing to put the money into the car thats needed I just need more research.
I will be putting in performance cams from schrick along with a free flow exhaust. My main concern at this time is a MAF conversion and i understand thats no easy feat. I wanted to know if i could simply take the MAF off a E36 318 and drop it in the E30 and replace the AFM driver with a MAF driver in the ECU and if that is possible then ill do that. I just sent a Email to VAC Motorsports to see if they can make a M42 stroker kit with a 11.5:1 compression ratio with a 88mm Crankshaft stroke and 86 mm bore. i hope i put the right numbers if not ill sound like a total moron lol Last edited by Titan_Omega; 01-10-2013 at 09:40 PM. |

I am going to get a Megasquirt system for the engine management so i can just delete the AFM totally. and with that I can pretty much do anything to the engine. ill be doing a lot of research before purchasing and doing this so any info on megasquirt you think would be helpful I welcome it.

it looks like the best option is to take the valve cover to be machined down a bit and put a carbon fiber layer over it thats about the best that can happen........that sucks........
