anthracite metallic vs stratus metallic

for those who have seen both in person, what is the difference between the two? do they react differently to sunny days vs cloudy days, polished vs not polished, etc? thanks

I'm only familiar with the first 2 colors you mentioned, Anthracite & Stratus. The 3rd color, I've never seen before on an e38...Orinocco is usually associated with green...in fact Orinocco Green was the dark green exterior color used with the Highline Pkg offered here in the States.

Anthracite is a dark metallic gray and any variations in coloring it still gives off a grayish color...obviously the metallic flakes will be highlighted on bright sunny days and may appear slightly lighter vs the way it looks in the evening or cloudy days.

Stratus usually appears more as a "medium gray"....it's a rare color that appears to have undercoat optics that changes based on the type of light that it is in. It can sometimes look like various shades of tan, green, or gray...again, depending on if the day is sunny or cloudy...dawn or dusk, day or night, clean or dirty.

A Stratus Gray 01 740i w/sport pkg was used as a March/2002 Roundel "cover girl" ...titled "One Last Great Ride:

The stratus is an awesome color in person, but it doesn't photograph worth a darn. I tried, it just looks grey.
